About Us

C.U.R.A., Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt behavior modification program, that gives men the opportunity to live lives free from drugs and alcohol. Clients are given the chance to change their past behavior by working on their core issues and planning for their futures. The final goal is for participants to graduate as contributing members of society.

C.U.R.A., Inc. is fully certified and licensed by the State of California and operates a Residential Therapeutic Community in Fremont, California and a Recovery Residence in Oakland, California. C.U.R.A., Inc. has been in continuous operation for over fifty years.

C.U.R.A., Inc. provides a continuum of care designed to support men in recovery from substance use. Our services include:

  • Residential Treatment (Fremont): The Therapeutic Community (TC)  located in Fremont, California is a structured, supportive environment where participants receive intensive treatment, counseling, and life-skills training to build a foundation for lasting sobriety.
  • Relapse Prevention & Life Skills Training: These practices equip participants with the tools needed to maintain sobriety and navigate life’s challenges successfully.
  • Peer & Alumni Support: A strong recovery community fostering connection, mentorship, and encouragement.
  • Holistic & Evidence-Based Approaches: Utilizing therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care to address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
  • Recovery Residence: A sober living environment (SLE) located in Oakland, California that offers sober housing, continued peer support,structured environment, accountability and transportation to outpatient services.
